Goodman Pool Access Scholarships
Madison Parks Foundation helps keep the Goodman Pool accessible and welcoming for all—funding passes for families in need, supporting free swim lessons, and providing life jackets and other essential safety gear.
Since the Goodman Community Pool opened in 2006, the Madison Parks Foundation has partnered with the Goodman Foundation to make swimming accessible for everyone—no matter their income, experience, or background.
Removing Barriers to Water Access
Through generous community support, MPF has helped thousands of Madison families enjoy safe, affordable access to the city’s only public community pool by funding:
Swimming lesson scholarships for children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to learn
Free admission passes for families and local community centers across the city
Support for the Goodman Waves, Madison’s only public swim and dive team, including scholarships and reduced fees
Promoting Safety and Inclusion
Learning to swim isn’t just about recreation—it’s about confidence, safety, and belonging. MPF has expanded these efforts by providing:
Free life jackets, available to any pool visitor who needs one
CPR training equipment to support lifeguard certification and safety programs
These investments ensure that every child can enjoy the pool, even if they’ve never taken formal lessons, and that everyone—parents, kids, and lifeguards alike—feels safe and welcome in the water.
